WESTECH Owner Honored by the United States Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC)

In May 2008, Dr. Betty Chao, owner of Westech International, Inc., was honored as having one of the 50 Fastest-Growing Asian American Businesses in the United States. The award was sponsored by the USPAACC, and presented at the White House. Awardees later attended a banquet at the Hilton Washington hosted by the President and CEO of the USPAACC, Sue Allen, and also attended by the Secretary of Labor, Elaine Chao. The awards events were part of the annual CelebrAsian Business Opportunity Conference ’08 held in Washington D.C. The USPAACC Foundation is an organization that represents and advocates for greater opportunities for Asian American Businesses. They also seek to break down barriers as well as

stereotypes regarding Asian Americans.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WESTECH LLC Wins Staff Augmentation Contract at SNL

WESTECH in conjunction with GRAM, Inc. of Albuquerque, NM, formed a Limited Liability Company, Sandia Staffing Alliance, to pursue staff augmentation opportunities at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) in New Mexico and California. On Wednesday, May 21, 2008, SNL announced that Sandia Staffing Alliance was the successful bidder in the Professional Services category. Through the months of May and June, Sandia Staffing Alliance will be involved with the transition of over 500 incumbent Professional personnel. Please see the formal SNL press release at:

WESTECH Successful Bidder at Ft. Hood, Texas:

WESTECH as a subcontractor to Research, Analysis and Maintenance, Inc. (RAM) of El Paso, TX was awarded a five-year contract from the U.S. Army Test & Evaluation Command's Operational Test Command (USAOTC) at Ft. Hood, TX. The mission of the USAOTC is to plan, conduct and report independent operational tests, assessments and experiments of Army material and information mission area systems in order to provide essential information for the acquisition and fielding of warfighting systems. The RAM contract was awarded in October 2007, and will involve providing all labor, management, and materials to support the operational test, data collection, and experimentation mission of the USAOTC. WESTECH's contribution will be to provide a technical and supervisory core staff of 15 augmented with a test support staff up to 70 personnel. Our staff will be tasked with providing test support services both within and outside the continental United States.

WESTECH Expands Operations into California:

On April 1, 2007, Westech International, Inc. (WESTECH), began operations at the U.S. Army, National Training Center, Ft. Irwin, California. This marks the first time that WESTECH performed business operations in that state. The $3.7M contract was awarded by Northrup Grummon (NG), Enterprise Management Services Corp., and was the result of a successful competitive bid. WESTECH's +100 specialty warehouse personnel will support NG and the U.S. Army by managing the Direct Supply Support Activity warehouse, which provides Class IX supplies (repair parts for all U.S. Army ground equipment) to the local post as well as the rotational units that train at Ft. Irwin; and the Echelon Above Brigade Supply and Services warehouse, which provides Class II (expendable/durable items) and Class IV (fortification, barrier, and construction material) supplies to the rotational units.

WESTECH Receives Top 25 Women-Owned Business Award:

For the sixth year in a row, Dr. Betty Chao, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Westech International, Inc. (WESTECH) have been honored as one of the Top 25 Women-Owned Businesses by New Mexico Woman Magazine at a luncheon on Friday, March 30, 2007. The Top 25 are selected annually based upon gross revenue sales and a minimum 51% woman-owned interest. WESTECH is 100% woman-owned.

10 CFR 851 Compliance Attained:

On February 22, 2007, Westech International, Inc. (WESTECH) in compliance with 10 CFR 851 Worker Safety and Health Program submitted their Worker Safety and Health Program (WSHP) to the applicable U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Field Element Offices for approval in advance of the February 26, 2007 deadline.The purpose of the new federal regulation is to establish written management and worker responsibilities, worker rights, and required training for all contractor employees at DOE and NNSA sites. WESTECH has already taken steps towards implementation of their WSHP well in advance of the May 25, 2007 deadline.

WESTECH Completes BWXT Audit:

On Thursday, January 4, 2007, Westech International, Inc. (WESTECH) underwent an external audit of its quality management system and processes by BWXT Pantex (BWXT) of Amarillo, TX. BWXT is the Management and Operations contractor for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Pantex Plant. BWXT periodically will perform these quality assurance audits on its subcontractors and potential subcontractors to ensure that quality products and services are provided to NNSA. The audit evaluates, among other things, the Quality Policy statement, Management Review reports, the Quality Policy Manual, contract review records, document change control, WESTECH supplier evaluation records, internal audit reports, and employee training records. Completion of a successful audit means inclusion on BWXT’s approved supplier list. WESTECH passed the BWXT audit with flying colors, and can continue its listing on BWXT’s approved supplier list for NNSA work.

WESTECH and NewTec awarded new contract:

November 8, 2006 -- The New Mexico Technology Group (NewTec), with Westech International, Inc. (WESTECH) as a subcontractor, has been awarded a $77,968,998, cost-plus-award fee contract for mission support services for the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) and the 46th Test Group High Speed Test Track at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. The contract includes support for operations, maintenance, and engineering design of instrumentation, support for field and laboratory testing, operations and maintenance of major test facilities, and other developmental engineering services. The contract contains four, two-year option periods, which, if exercised, will bring the total contract value to $422,039, 527. The total contract period with options is ten years beginning December 1, 2006.
NewTec brings the resources and capabilities of four world-class companies to WSMR and the 46th Test Group. NewTec is a joint venture company with Computer Sciences Corporation, Lockheed Martin, TRAX International, and Northrop Grumman as partners.

ISO 9001:2000 Annual Audit:

On October 17, 2006, Westech International, Inc. (WESTECH) successfully completed its first annual International Standards Organization (ISO) 9001:2000 surveillance audit. This audit is required by the International Standards Organization approximately one year after a company receives its initial certification inspection. WESTECH was audited on October 19th and 20th, 2005, and received its ISO 9001:2000 certificate on December 5, 2005. This certification means that WESTECH has implemented a quality management system with an established framework that is used across all departments to improve the quality of our services and ensure increased customer satisfaction. This certification is applicable to all of WESTECH's core business areas including information technology/information management, facility management, and engineering, technical, and administrative support services.
